DLO TransPod All-in-One Car Solution for iPod (Black) Review

DLO TransPod All-in-One Car Solution for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wasn't expecting a great solution when I purchased this item. I have tried similar products by other manufacturers and was disappointed. However, the Transpod gave me the sound I was looking for in an easy to install and use package.
Interestingly, I bought a direct connect via tape player type unit as well which is theoretically suppossed to deliver better sound quality. However, I found this was not the case at all. The Transpod does a much better job.
My unit also came with an extension bar so it could be mounted higher. This gets it up away from the ashtray. However, the criticisms about getting it to a place where it is safe to operate while driving is a real issue. It's not a big deal for me because I could make changes at lights or before I set out to drive somewhere. For others this may be a more serious problem, but really it isn't a bigger deal than fumbling with a cell phone while driving.
In order for this product to work properly, you need a very clean FM station that is not broadcasting. This is usually not a problem at the extreme ends of the FM broadcasting band in most locations. If this is a problem in your area, you may get static even on a fairly clean channel. I live in the Bay Area and I was able to find several useable channels.
I also think the design is well thought out in terms of travelling and needing to change channels. The device also you to set a number of alternate broadcasting frequencies as presets. This gives you the ability to change your channels easily while commuting. It is also very easy to change channels directly and the display is large and attractive.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product. I'm a musician and pretty fussy about sound. I'm completely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Sirius SV2-TK1 InV Satellite Radio with Car Kit Review

Sirius SV2-TK1 InV Satellite Radio with Car Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Both other reviewers didn't rate the product. They rated amazon's service. The product is great for it's price. It's can be hooked up with it's built in fm transmitter or directly with it's headphone jack (which does not include the wire and requires you to have an aux in for your vehicle). Both work well and the sound is crystal clear. The missing features are easy indoor hookup (no compatible boom box) and lack of rewind/fast forward but neither are needed for car only use.

One of Sirius's easiest to use and most affordable receivers, the Sirius InV is amust for satellite radio fans who want a less-expensive entry into the market. Just likeother Sirius-compatible receivers, the InV offers a large, easy-to-read display and anintuitive front control panel. But more significantly for people who spend a lot of time inthe car, the InV is designed to seamlessly complement your driving routine thanks to thebundled car kit. Note that the InV doesn't support Sirius's universal dockingarchitecture--unlike the comparably priced Stratus--so you'll have to connect it to yourstereo console via wires. However, the receiver does offer a complete in-car solution, with a design that's perfect for smaller vehicles with tight mounting locations. Inaddition to the receiver, the kit includes a power adapter that connects to your car's 12- volt cigarette lighter plug, a vehicle antenna for enhanced reception, and a dash mount.Once you're connected, you'll have the ability to decode the incoming digital-qualitysignal from more than 130 music, news, sports, talk, and entertainment channels, many ofthem commercial-free.
An intuitive three-line display tells you the channel name and number, artist name, andsong title. The receiver also lets you program up to 10 presets of your favorite streams, aswell as search by channel name and music category. And with a quick press of the One- Touch Jump button, you can instantly switch between the traffic and weather reportsfor your city or any of the other music, news, or entertainment channels. Otherprogramming details include direct station tuning via the numeric buttons and a channellock option.
The InV also includes a built-in FM transmitter that sends Sirius radio programming toyour vehicle's FM tuner, so you don't have to make a direct connection to enjoy the fullarray of channels. Simply set an empty FM frequency on your radio and tune the InV tothe same frequency (the transmitter supports up to 100 frequencies). The transmitter alsoworks with other FM tuners, such as the one on your home stereo, but is easily pairedwith the car thanks to the vehicle kit, which includes everything you need for listeningto Sirius while driving.
Other features include a real-time clock; a parental lock function that restricts yourchildren's access to off-color material; and compatibility with a separately sold wirelessremote control. The InV, which measures 4.5 by 1.9 by 0.7 inches (W x H x D), is backedby a one-year warranty.

Ramsey FM10C FM Stereo Transmitter Kit Review

Ramsey FM10C FM Stereo Transmitter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I built one of these from a kit. They are easy to solder and build. Much better than the CC Crane transmitter, which is the second best choice. It is completely in a different class than the FM transmitters you buy at mass merchandise chains.
There are FCC regulations limiting power of FM transmitters. What I was surprised at given the regulations was the variation in quality.
This is the BEST FM transmitter I could find. I also own the CC Crane FM transmitter which is OK, but significantly below this one in quality. I would not buy a FM transmitter other than one of these two.
FM transmitters are handy for rebroadcasting streaming audio from a computer, TV, or you music collection throughout the house. They work much better in areas with few FM stations. You do need a clear channel to broadcast the FM signal.

Arkon SF120 SoundFeeder Wireless FM Audio Transmitter Review

Arkon SF120 SoundFeeder Wireless FM Audio Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this FM transmitter after trying the iRoc for several weeks and being unsatisfied with it. First, the range of FM channels is much greater than the iRoc I had (which only gave four presetting channels.) This way you can tune incrementally to find the perfectly clear channel for best reception. While this is very nice, I live in Dallas where radio signals fill the dial and make reception poor to worse. On a long road trip I found that you had to constantly tune the thing as you passed in and out of towns due to radio interference. The best option is for hooking my MP3 player to any cheap radio at work or in various rooms at home so I can immediately have 10gigs of music from my iPod available. This way, in the home or office, you can find the perfect channel and interference doesn't change much so you can get things perfect. For the car, I may be too picky for a FM transmitter and might have to get a better stereo with a direct jack.

The battery-powered SF120 SoundFeeder wireless audio adapter lets you play your portable CD player, iPod, MP3 player, or minidisc player through your car or home FM radio. Whether your car stereo automatically ejects your cassette-type adapter or you merely like the cord-free convenience of wireless, this is the adapter you've ben waiting for.Just plug SoundFeeder into your audio device of choice and tune it to any unused FM channel and you'll hear your music playing in stereo, right off the radio. SoundFeeder can also be used indoors with televisions, personal computers, video games, keyboards, or computers. Simply plug SoundFeeder into the line output or headphone jack of the audio equipment and you can transmit high-quality stereo sound from any source (certain devices may require an RCA-to-minijack "Y" adapter or a .25-inch-to-.125-inch headphone adapter). Ramsey FM25B Synthesized FM Stereo Transmitter Kit Review

Ramsey FM25B Synthesized FM Stereo Transmitter Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This great hobbyist kit transmits a clear signal over 1200ft or 1/4 mile.
There are about 100 components to solder. You can also buy it pre-assembled for an extra $75USD.
It takes about an hour or so to build. But beginners can take up to six hours.
Checking, adjusting, testing and making an antenna can take all day.
The sound quality is great. By that I mean it's comparable to a tape player or a record player.
The stereo separation is also great. I checked left, I checked right.
I didn't install the built-in telescoping antenna.
I connected an external antenna.
You can also just plug in a five foot 22-gauge sold copper wire.
I also noticed that the manual fails to tell you to install the built-in antenna.
With a dipole antenna or better and placing it outside a window, the transmitted signal can go about a mile if unobstructed.
But now I'll have to lower that signal strength before the FCC comes and yanks out my antenna.-----------------------
1/20/2010 unit still alive. Its on all the time. 24/7/365.

Xact XTR1 Sirius Satellite Plug and Play Receiver Review

Xact XTR1 Sirius Satellite Plug and Play Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, the XACT is a very nice receiver. I have owned a PNP2 and this receiver and I prefer this one. The XACT, while not wearable, is very portable. You can even buy the Powerpod and take it anywhere you go. The size of the receiver does come with setbacks though, there are only 10 S-Seeks compared to 20 on most of the other receivers. The screen is smaller (although very nice), and the presets require a little more work to set. The greatest thing though is the service itself. It is great not to hear any commercials, and the music streams are top quality. The Talk, News, and Sports are also great. Sirius recently added a Maxim channel, which is quickly becomming one of my favorites. Sirius's sports are great, I am a fan of football and there is nothing like hearing your team that is normally not carried locally. In the end I recommend this receiver and Sirius.

DLO Tune Stick Review

DLO Tune Stick
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit is cleverly designed, and functions adequately...some of the time. Interference from power lines and radio signal relays regularly disrupt "broadcasts" from one's iPod to the FM station selected. As one travels, other stations can routinely be heard, replacing the programming on one's iPod. It's pretty annoying, and frequently renders the listening experience genuinely unpleasant.

TuneStik combines a wireless FM transmitter with a powerful RF remote control for iPod playback and control in the car, at home--anywhere there's an FM radio. What sets TuneStik apart from the pack of existing FM transmitters is the included remote control plus an integrated pass-through dock connector, which gives you the freedom to combine TuneStik with virtually any iPod accessory--adding an RF remote and an FM transmitter to nearly all your iPod gear.

Keep your hands on the wheel The TuneStik includes a compact RF remote control and fully-adjustable steering-wheel cradle, so you can put safety first as you control your iPod. The remote control pops out of its cradle in a snap, allowing you to pass music control to your backseat drivers. And with TuneStik's four programmable presets, you're sure to have the best transmission at the push of a button.
Control at your fingertips The TuneStik isn't just an FM transmitter for the car--it also adds a strong RF remote control to your iPod--anywhere! With your TuneStik attached, simply connect your iPod to your home stereo system. Now you can use the compact TuneStik remote to control your iPod audio playback from across the room.
Plays well with others With the TuneStik's pass-through dock connector, you can continue to use your existing Auto Charger, iPod dock, or any other 30-pin based accessory while still having the benefits of a powerful FM transmitter and remote control at your fingertips.

Macally SN-ICEFM FM Transmitter and Charger for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players Review

Macally SN-ICEFM FM Transmitter and Charger for SanDisk Sansa MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Works fine as a USB charger, but transmits a very low signal. You have to crank your radio up to max to barely hear anything, the background noise is louder then what you are trying to play and the noise is coming from the transmitter. The FM channel choices should work in my area as there is next to no signal on them from a radio station. But as soon as it is plugged in the background noise is horrific. I even tried soldering some wire onto the transmitting antenna and putting it next to the cars antenna and it made no difference. My ipod with a Monster transmitter works flawlessly on the same frequencies.

Maxell FMT-1 - FM transmitter Review

Maxell FMT-1 - FM transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a very simple FM transmitter that's pretty much feature free. The trade off is it's price is much lower than most other FM transmitter you find in the iPod section of most retail stores. In fact, I actually found this product in the portable CD player isle (remember those?) of Best Buy
Pros:
-Nice price for those that don't mind the lack of bells and whistles.
-Range is good enough that your car should pick up the signal from anywhere in the car.
-Auto-shut off feature when it's not transmitting a signal.
-Works for any mp3 player with a headphone jack.
-Has that that cool Maxell "guy in the chair" logo on the back (probably not a real big pro, I admit).Cons:
-Might be too bulky for some. I'll try to get pictures up later, but for you gum or tobacco chewers it's about the size of a Bubble Tape or Skoal's container (as round as a soda can and a little under an inch thick).
-Requires 3 AAA batteries, which will be more of a con the more you plan on using the device.
-The four frequencies are in the 88 MHz range (88.1 - 88.7), which will be a con if that part of the dial is busy in your area
-I have to crank my iPod to full volume and turn the radio volume up a little higher than normal to get a good sound (this can be compensated by using my iPod's EQ, which sacrifices some battery life).
Overall, if you're thinking about getting a FM transmitter, but not sure how much you'll actaully use it, this is a nice, cheap device to test the waters. If you think you're going to use your mp3 player exclusively while you're in your car, you'll probably want to invest in a higher grade device.

SIRIUS ST4-TK1 Starmate 4 Plug-and-Play Satellite Radio Receiver with Car Kit Review

SIRIUS ST4-TK1 Starmate 4 Plug-and-Play Satellite Radio Receiver with Car Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall, the Starmate 4 is OK, but it has some significant design flaws that some thoughtful engineering could have easily fixed. I wish I had bought the Sportster 4. First, unlike the Sportster 4, this model does NOT incorporate the Auxillary Input feature for plugging in your MP3 player or other audio devices. Many of the online merchants advertise this, but it is not present on the Starmate 4 car dock. The addition of the Starmate 4 dock increases the size of the Starmate, which is thinner than previous models, but is now functionally larger in size because of the addition of the dock. A major design flaw (in my opinion) is that the antenna, power and auxillary output from the car dock are located on the back of the unit, rather than the bottom or sides. So, although the unit is physically thinner than previous models, by the time you install it, it is functionally thicker than previous models. In short, the footprint of the new Starmate is larger than previous models when you factor in the docking cradle and the location of the antenna, power, and audio connections. Since I bought this unit for a smaller footprint than the Sportster 4, I am dissappointed. I had hoped to install it flush with my dashboard by attaching velcro to the back of the unit similar to the way you could with the Starmate Replay.
The positive is that it DOES have a docking cradle which makes it much easier to move from the car to the home. If you don't need to move the unit around, then the Starmate 4 does not have any functionality that doesn't exist in the Starmate Replay. The addition on an auxillary input jack similar to the Sportster 4 would have offered a significant upgrade. If the designers for the next generation of radios are listening, I'd suggest spending time thinking about how people actually have to install these devices. Place the connectors on the bottom or sides of the docking cradle or provide a method of giving the user options. My 2006 Prius does not have any smooth surfaces for using the suction cup except for the windshield which slopes too much to allow convenient installation. Likewise the air conditioning vents don't work well in my vehicle for installation. Frankly, I'm sorry I spent the extra money for this unit. But, if you want a unit that can be moved easily from car to home, this is a good option. For flexibility, the Sportster 4 might be a better option since it does supply additional functionality for the same price.
Update: I've had this for 9-months now and it has worked flawlessly. However, I stand by my human factors design concerns stated in the initial review and think that a dock design could be created to give the user options for where the wires plug into the dock. We all jury-rig these radios into our cars, regardless of our personal preferences. The design of the radio, combined with the configuration of my car (Prius), required that I purchase an aftermarket windshield mount since the one that came with the radio would not work in my car.

DLO TransDock Micro FM Transmitter for iPod (Black) Review

DLO TransDock Micro FM Transmitter for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

I purchased the DLO TransDock Micro in order to be able to listen to my 60 GB Video Ipod as I drive around in my vehicle. After using this device for about a month now, I am extremely pleased with its performance. The audio coming through my vehicle's radio using this device with my Ipod is outstanding, with no hiss or other interferences. I prefer this device over other FM transmitters/chargers because it allows you to place your Ipod just about anywhere in your vehicle where it is convenient, due to the long cord on the device. The use of the cord on this device, as compared to other FM transmitters which require you to place your Ipod in/on the device, also allows me to keep the protective case on my Ipod at all times. The DLO TransDock Micro is a great addition to any compatible Ipod.

Sirius 14110 Wired FM Modulator Relay Review

Sirius 14110 Wired FM Modulator Relay
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have a Sirius radio with the FM out, this little toy works great. It's simple to use, plugs right in, and the antenna feed cable is super super long.
If you're a hobbyist like me and was hoping to use this to install a line-in to your factory radio, beware. This isn't a modulator so much as an injector, injecting an *existing* FM signal into the antenna feed. Thus, you can't just connect the input of this device to your iPod's output and listen away, you have to connect it to an FM modulator, which adds more stuff to rig up and defeats the simplicity of the idea.
Anyway, for Sirius users or anyone else with an FM modulator output, buy this toy, it's awesome. For other folks looking to add a simple line-in to your radio, keep shopping.

Tired of relying on your FM transmitter to send your Sirius satellite radiosignal to your car stereo? Turn instead to this wired FM modulator, which provides adirect connection to produce a crisper overall sound. Unlike FM transmitters--whichoften suffer from static and interference--the FM modulator plugs directly into yourfactory or after-market stereo, where it shields the system from intrusion by over-the-airFM stations. The device is particularly handy in crowded radio markets such as urbanareas, where interference from neighboring FM stations can often creep into the Siriussignal. To install, simply connect the FM out from your FM modulator to the FMantenna input of your stereo head unit. Once you're connected, the modulator's internalrelay will switch between Sirius operation (when the receiver is powered on) andAM/FM radio (when the receiver is turned off). Compatible with Sirius Starmate,Starbase, and Sportster plug 'n' play radios, the FM modulator comes with a 2-foot FMcable and a 19.33-foot minijack cable and is backed by a one-year warranty.

Philips G2G301 Wireless FM Transmitter Review

Philips G2G301 Wireless FM Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really don't know how many stars should I give to this product, 2 or 3, because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't do it very well.
Unfortunately, where I live, 3 of the 4 frequencies are been used. When I use the kinda empty one: on the morning I get some static, and/or noises from that frequency, interferences; but at night I don't. Sometimes at night I put the transmitter on the back seats of my car and I'm able to still listen very well, but just at night and like I said, sometimes.
With the other frequencies it's almost imposible to hear something. Specially with the first one that is in use, I just can hear the station. Tunning isn't the solution.
Another thing that I have to do in my car is that I have to put the transmitter on the top of the console, because the stereo is at the top. I really don't know how to explain this but the one who has a '94 Isuzu Trooper or has ride it could imagine this situation. For my consideration that may be dangerous because any thief could just get in his arm and get my mp3 and the transmitter, if I'm with my window down (like most of the time because I like it that way). Is not that I'm paranoic, the thing is that in my city people cross on the middle of the streets, and here anything could happen. So, in that place is where I get the best reception and also sometimes static and interference too...
I also tried on another car and was terrible, even closer that in my car. The static was anoying, tunning didn't even work.
I've also tried it on many places, like boomboxes, stereos, amplifiers, etc and the result was the same. The thing here is that the transmitter is closer to the stereo; get your own conclusions with this because the problem is the same one. Even if you tune it, it's the same.
I bought this product by Philips instead of Coby (CA-739) because I know the reputation that Philips has and what involves buying anything from Coby, but I have to say that I'm not happy with this. I thought that all my audio problems were gone with this system, no way! If you want to take the risk, maybe think about getting the one from Coby.
Finally I found where to place the transmitter. Now the thing is how I'm going to stand it. What I'm trying to say is that you better buy one that can be plug into the 12v, more comfortable and esthetic. You have to consider space and a safe place for your player too.
I'm thinking of just fix my cassette player and use the cassette adapter back because this is not the first time I read problems like this one.
Maybe you should consider buying one that may allow you to use any frequency and that has quite wide range.

Very handy device , especially if you use blue tooth phone ear pieces. Plug it into any standard stereo plug and listen to Mp3 or audio books. when call comes in you automatically switch to the call.
Would have given it 5 stars but it has to be re-paired too often. So you cue up an audio book and turn it on only to find you need to go through the more lengthy repairing process.
