(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit on Dec. 19 to prepare for our long hour trip. My kids really had great time on the car as we carried lots of movies and music videos for them.
This unit is very good. I had it installed in my new Mercedes GLK350 for the price of $150 of installation fee. The quality of picture is great. the built-in FM transmitter works perfectly fine. If you have decent sound systems in your vehicle, you will feel like you are sitting in a theater. I recommend to buy this unit over other more expensive ones because it offers you everything you need for a flip down DVD player.
The only problem is the seller never respond to my email when I ask if they have other color for me to choose instead of black color.
I am not sure if I want to do business with this seller again.

(More customer reviews)I got it installed in my 2005 Toyota Sienna at ABC warehouse for $170.00. The total cost of this item comes to $525.00 after installation which is not bad at all compared to $1800.00 at Toyota dealership.
The colour(tan) matched perfectly with the interior and the picture/sound quality is good. I am running the sound through car speakers at FM1 87.7 with no loss of sound on long trips.
I think its a great product and should work fine. My kids are loving it.

(More customer reviews)The volume when played through the internal speaker is 'barely' audible and in no way sufficent to hear.
There is NO audio out jack to plug-in wired head phones.
There is NO provision to use wireless head phones.
The ONLY workable option is to play through the vehicle's car stereo or have a jack wired in to allow the use of wired head - phones.

There are excellent products in this area available. Don't get stuck with this over-priced,technology backward unit.
OH.....gets two stars instead of one due to excellent picture quality.

(More customer reviews)For the basic picture quality, this unit works great. Although, I wanted built in speakers but gave them up for the TV tuner feature. However, after trying many times just cant get the TV part to work. It was professionally installed by Best Buy including the outside antenna, but it never picks up any signal anywhere.
I have it connected to a Sony indash dvd player and it works well with very good picture quality.
If installation wasn't so expensive, I would have returned it but the cost of doing that and new installation would out-justify it.

Xovision GX1571D Overhead Monitor With Built-In DVD Player Review

(More customer reviews)I received this item thinking I would install it. Opening the box, I realized the task was over my head, so I purchased the InstallerNet card and had it professionally installed. Very happy with the service of the installer - took less than 2 hours and they did a very clean, neat install.
A bit disappointed that the RCA jacks for input are NOT mounted on the exterior of the unit. They are part of the wiring harness and are hidden. To use them, they either need to be mounted hanging out of the edge of the unit (between the unit and the headliner) or run to some kind of hard mount somewhere in the vehicle using some form of extension. Not a show stopper, but it limits my boys' ability to use a gaming system with the monitor.
I used the DVD player once with no issues; however, since the first use, the monitor has had discontinuity lines in it and is worthless for viewing. I am currently contacting the seller to exchange the unit for another and hope this is unique to this particular unit. I will update once I am through with the process.
UPDATE: I contacted the seller (Discounts Jungle) and asked to exchange the unit. They balked at first due to the fact that I contacted them after 30 days although it was actually day 29 from delivery. They insisted I take it back to the installer first and if they verified the install was correct, they would exchange it. It took a little over a week to get back into the installer's shop, but they did get a look at it and verified it was in fact a bad unit, not the install. I called the seller again and once again they balked at a return saying I was way over 30 days now. The person on the phone said she would talk to her manager and call me back. Later the same day, she did call back and gave me the plan - I had to pay to ship it back and include a check to ship the new unit, but they would exchange it. I had to unistall it myself (and ultimately install the new unit or pay for a new install!!). Over all, I am OK with this, but a bit unhappy that I had to pay for shipping a faulty unit back to the seller even though I contacted them first within their return period.
So, how does this unit work - quite well! My boys are happy (the unit is a bit big for a crew cab truck, but they don't mind) and since the only way to hear the unit is with the headphones, I am happy. (NOTE - there is no external speaker on the unit - you MUST buy the wireless headphones to listen).

(More customer reviews)I bought this July 6th 2010. I was leary of the size, quality & lack of any reviews on anything car video. I got it in @ 3 days in a box filled w/ packing, unmarred, & no issues with the monitor or dvd to this date. I will update.
After unboxing it all the way up until it was installed I thought it may be too big and would be too close for the kids. It fits perfectly between the headrests & right behind the overhead light in my Expedition. Kids absolutely love it, picture quality is great, and I can't wait to tailgate with it after I get an external antenna.
FYI
*You will wanna keep the overhead light if possible because there is no door light just manual switches & it sets it back far enough when flipped down that it is not in the front seats vision.
*The bundle with the 2 IR headsets W/ transmitter is a good deal. You do not need the transmitter though as the Monitor already has one built. Reason I put this in is I did not read that on the box for some reason, until about 30 mins of trying to figure out how to wire in and mount (hide) the ugly transmitter did I finally notice it on the box (friend of mine read it & I felt stupid)
*There are no speakers on this unit you must use FM Modulator or Headsets
Installation
Here is what I did to install it if you are interested. I tried looking for something like this before I started but couldn't find anything anywhere. It was a fairly easy install and will save you a small bundle if you got some mechanical ability and a helping hand. Hope this helps.
Removed headliner, centered & riveted a metal mounting plate across 2 roof beams, used expanding foam on plate to reduce noise, robbed power from the overhead lights, cut small hole just right of mouting plate in headliner to drop power cord, reinstalled headliner & secured manufacturer mounting bracket to mounting plate. Here is my one complaint the screws to mount the montior to the bracket are too small. They should have screw studs attached to the mounting backet so you can nut it up, would have been a hell of a lot easier. I had a friend use 2 hole punches to center it and luckily I got one screw to finally catch. That was the hardest part of the hole project and really didnt need to be that difficult. Those little screws make me a little nervous so I'll eventually replace them bigger self tappers that go through the headliner to the mounting plate. It took me @ 6 hrs to complete and I couldn't be happier.

They told me they would have to repair & not replace the unit. I still have not gotten it back. I constantly get the run-around from Sound Around, Brooklyn. I will never purchase online again!

When i opened it i realize that the built-in dvd player was nowhere on this device like advertised in the product description. It is a obvious misprint by Amazon or they aren't aware. I called them twice to remove the product description but it hasn't happened yet. Amazon told me that they would be sending me a replacement...of the same product. The main thing i want is the built-in dvd, not what i have now. So now i have to wait 3-5 business days for whatever they're going to send me and i have to send this one back. Other then that it does have a large screen and looks nice, but it is not as described.

(More customer reviews)Easy install if you are a little bit mechanically/electrically inclined. Took me 45 minutes to mount and wire it, but i didn't have to remove my headliner, so some installs may be a bit more tricky. Stereo shop wanted $400 for install, so i'm glad i did it myself. As for the quality, it is simple in design, but the video looks great. I use my car stereo speakers, so i haven't tried out the IR feature for headphones, but i plan on getting a set of headphones in the near future. Keep in mind this is not a DVD player, only a monitor. I have an in dash DVD player with video output to this screen. For the price of this unit, it gets all 5 stars.

I tried to troubleshoot the problem but it looks like I got a lemon. I didn't have time to try and return it, since we had vacation plans and had to go on our road trip without our new screen!
