(More customer reviews)After reading everyone's reviews, my wife and I decided to buy this unit -- what a mistake! After less than three months of only occasional use, one unit has stopped working entirely. We used it less than 30 minutes a day 4 or 5 days a week. That's it! And there were no small fingers touching it because our son is only one year old and too small to reach the DVD player. Because one unit broke, we turned on the second one, which had not been used since it was installed, only to find that It didn't work either. And did I mention it's never been used? What an absolute piece of garbage. And although we were aware that there was no warrantee on this product, our previous experience with Amazon sellers have always led to some sort of agreeable settlement with faulty merchandise. Not so with this seller, EliteAutoSoundSales. After informing them that we had obviously received a lemon, we received a curt email back from them saying it's been over 30 days and the return period has expired. Don't buy this product -- especially from this horrible seller. Now that I look back on the other reviews, I see that most of them focus on how easy it is to use and how it looks good -- but very few of them comment on the longterm quality of the player itself. I was fooled -- but please do not make the same mistake I did!

(More customer reviews)I puchased this a couple of weeks ago and recently had them installed in a BMW X3 (SUV). These are a great value for aftermarket dvd players, I did a lot of review/research and nothing beat this deal. They look and play great; I'm sure they will get a ton of quality viewing time for the kids and hopefully a little bit of peace for the parents in the front seat. I tried out the game feature and they are pretty old school, I wouldn't expect these to entertain serious gamer type kids for very long, but it's a nice added feature that most didn't have. Product also comes with a remote control which is a nice if you have little ones that can't operate the video's on their own. I'm not a handy person, so I called around for installation and in my area (SF) labor is pretty expensive (I had several quotes for $250); so I purchased an installation card from Crutchfield for $160. I would recommend this option if you're like me, they will hook you up with a local install shop and mine turned out very professional. My only minor ding about the product is the post of the headrest are smaller than the factory post so the shop had to compensate for that, basically using electrically tape to make the product snug. Anyway overall I was able to get a really nice DVD system for a excellent price and very happy with the purchase.

(More customer reviews)I bought this DVD player for my SUV from Amazon in February 2009. I could not get it installed by myself because the instructions that came with it were very confusing. I finally saved up the $200 for installation and I have taken this product to two professional installers and they told me that when they tested it, it won't play DVDs and it displays an "error" message. I am in the process of attempting to get my money back but to be honest, I am skeptical that I will be successful since it has been several months. I am so frustrated. The installers warned me that this happens quite often with DVD players bought online. I almost forgot to mention that I paid twice the amount that is being advertised for one.

(More customer reviews)I bought this July 6th 2010. I was leary of the size, quality & lack of any reviews on anything car video. I got it in @ 3 days in a box filled w/ packing, unmarred, & no issues with the monitor or dvd to this date. I will update.
After unboxing it all the way up until it was installed I thought it may be too big and would be too close for the kids. It fits perfectly between the headrests & right behind the overhead light in my Expedition. Kids absolutely love it, picture quality is great, and I can't wait to tailgate with it after I get an external antenna.
FYI
*You will wanna keep the overhead light if possible because there is no door light just manual switches & it sets it back far enough when flipped down that it is not in the front seats vision.
*The bundle with the 2 IR headsets W/ transmitter is a good deal. You do not need the transmitter though as the Monitor already has one built. Reason I put this in is I did not read that on the box for some reason, until about 30 mins of trying to figure out how to wire in and mount (hide) the ugly transmitter did I finally notice it on the box (friend of mine read it & I felt stupid)
*There are no speakers on this unit you must use FM Modulator or Headsets
Installation
Here is what I did to install it if you are interested. I tried looking for something like this before I started but couldn't find anything anywhere. It was a fairly easy install and will save you a small bundle if you got some mechanical ability and a helping hand. Hope this helps.
Removed headliner, centered & riveted a metal mounting plate across 2 roof beams, used expanding foam on plate to reduce noise, robbed power from the overhead lights, cut small hole just right of mouting plate in headliner to drop power cord, reinstalled headliner & secured manufacturer mounting bracket to mounting plate. Here is my one complaint the screws to mount the montior to the bracket are too small. They should have screw studs attached to the mounting backet so you can nut it up, would have been a hell of a lot easier. I had a friend use 2 hole punches to center it and luckily I got one screw to finally catch. That was the hardest part of the hole project and really didnt need to be that difficult. Those little screws make me a little nervous so I'll eventually replace them bigger self tappers that go through the headliner to the mounting plate. It took me @ 6 hrs to complete and I couldn't be happier.

I have an 05 Sequoia that I put these headrest in. the colour of the interior matched it fairly well. I have cloth seats but the covering of the headrest matched like I said pretty good. Installation in my veh was easy. I had to use the bigger posts since the smaller ones were small. Running of the wire was easy too. I didn't have to use a coat hanger to fish around in the back part of the seat. The wires were long enough to go from full back to all the way forward. The DVD player that I have them connected too only came with one output. So I had to use a splitter. I haven't noticed and video problems with this. I will say that you need WIRELESS headphones with these monitors. There is NO AUX AUDIO. The head unit I have has dual zones so that the people up front hear the radio and the passengers can hear the movie. I would suggest that you purchase something to block the sun coming from the side windows. The display can washout in daylight. But at night no problems. I would recommend these headrest.

Much more attractive than cheap strap-on screens with cords hanging everywhere. Also, probably not as much temptation for theft since it's thoroughly embedded. Installed two monitors with two DVD players (also from BOSS). Perfect for two kids in the back seat. With dual channels and wiring included, they can watch separate videos or tune in to the other's player. Only problem was the two players and two monitors took so much power a direct connection to the fuse panel (40 watts) was required.

(More customer reviews)Great product...manufacturer was very helpful in the installation process..first installer said it could not be installed in a Honda van..manufacturer said that it could be done..went to a second installer and he completed it in 2 hours and at a cheaper price..
If you have a professional complete the installation, the manufacturer extends the warrantee from one year to three years...the unit comes in black, but includes the necessary parts to have it be grey or tan. The dvd player sends the signal thru the an FM signal to your radio, so the sound of the dvd player goes thru all the speakers in the radio. Once your child can use headphones, then the signal will go to them, and you then can listen to your radio again!!
Only problem so far is that the remote does not work very easily, but the controls on the front of the unit are very user friendly and easy to get to.
Our daughter loves the dvd player and it keeps her entertained while in the van... I would recommend the Boss DVD player, as it was one third the cost of the dvd player that the car dealer installs and twice the size of the screen..a win..win..

(More customer reviews)I purchased this through Amazon, but the sub-supplier handled complaints and return of the product. I am glad that I had Amazon backing up this purchase.
After reading several other reviews on this product, I was prepared for some of the issues. The biggest issue is the Chinese to English translation in the operations manual (not the installation). You need to sit down with a cup of coffee and read these directions first with the product in front of you. There is a Chinese website that is more useful than the instruction manual, or the supplier.If you have a 12 VDC power supply, it is worth it to sit down and figure out all the controls and make sure everything functions before you install these.
The adapter rods are of course too small in diameter for today's American Made vehicles. So I twice wrapped them top to bottom with black electrical tape. That seemed to make them snug enough to fit.
Hooking up the wiring was relatively easy. My problem came after I had installed them and after playing for 5 minutes, one of the LCD screens went totally blank. The supplier company required me to package everything back up and Fedex picked them up the next day. One week later, my returned package arrived at their business in New York. After a few phone calls, they then shipped a new set which arrived in three days. I tested the new headsets for an hour before installing them. I didn't want to have that problem again.
The game CD have nothing on them. they are blank. So I guess you have to go to their website, download the games compresed to your computer, open the games, then transfer them to the CD.
Make sure your headsets work. If you have 2 kids in the car and they are watching different DVDs, the sound is maddening. Remember the speakers are right behind your head times 2.
So far I am pleased with the equipment. I had three previous vehicles that came from the factory with entertainment systems and we liked them all. But with my latest car purchase, I didn't want to spend $1200 more for factory installed DVD systems, so I thought this was a good investment. If in the future these DVD players break, I can just re-install original headrest. At least for now the grandkids are occupied on long trips.
I rated this a '3' because the operating instructions are difficult to understand, and that I had to wait two more weeks for a good set to arrive. The supplier did handle the problem without question..they just wanted to confirm there was something wrong with them.
