(More customer reviews)Works right out of the box. Hooked it up to my cable box inside the house, applied power, extended antenna. Installed batteries (8 C cells.)Pressed the on button. It does thump twice. Once on turn on then again when base comes on. It lights up blue so you can find it in the dark. Large volume knob on top. Water repellent. There are no treble or base controls. However it has very good balanced natural sound. The sound is great AND LOUD! No distortion, or static. I walked it 80ft to the far end of my property and still worked fine. The inside unit is light weight. The outside unit with batteries is a good weight and won't blow away in the wind. I use it on my swim spa. It gets splashed but still keeps working. I have run it for 2 hours on batteries and it never distorted. Don't know how long the batteries last. It doe come with a 12v supply for the outside and inside units. Or both will operate on batteries.
