X10 XCam2 InstantON Tiny Wireless Color Video Camera Review

X10 XCam2 InstantON Tiny Wireless Color Video Camera
Average Reviews:

As a computer and Audio Video Tech with over 10 years of experience. I tell you go read the Forums in x10 even though the forum has been mostly deleted . You will know the hard hidden facts about this junk.
I had paid nearly $300- for a x10 camera kit for a client to install. The software is incompatible to all platforms. Has major glitches. Hardware , the cams are third class quality and so is the support. If you have nothing to do in life and want to sit and waste time on trying to figure out defective products then this is it.
Don't buy anything wireless from x10. Go Wired if you must. But then the software will not support its own hardware. So go figure ! or just stay away from it anyway.

Dakota Alert Portable Receiver for 3000 Series Review

Dakota Alert Portable Receiver for 3000 Series
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a well made compact little reciever that records up to 999 triggers with channle, date, and time for up to 4 Dakota Alert motion sensors. You can configure the frequency and codes and the reciever can tell you exactly what channel has been triggered to tell you where the "bag guy" is. I have one channel operating looking at the back door of my home. The device has only one down side... it can "choke" now and then and this requires a "reset" (small hole-button in side you hit with a paperclip). When you reset it you have to reconfigure date, time, etc. so the logs are correct. But very useful product... you can set the chime to go and/or vibrate mode. I clip on my pajama collar in bed on vibrate and it tells me when I have a "fish on the end of my line". LOL

Crime Stopper RS-1304DP Remote Vehicle Engine Starter and Keyless Entry System Review

Crime Stopper RS-1304DP Remote Vehicle Engine Starter and Keyless Entry System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The item description is completely false. When you open up the box it becomes painfully evident that there is a LOT of wiring to do. In fact, I called the tech support number and the guy told me that he doesn't recommend anyone install this themselves because of the pitfalls involved with all of the wiring which could actually ruin your car's computer system which, as you might know, isn't cheap. Not only that, but he also told me that crimestopper doesn't even sell their equipment to non-authorized dealers, Amazon buys it from a 3rd party vendor. So guess what that means . . . no warranty on the item! If you are attracted to this item because of the direct plug in myth and the promise of a hassle free install, turn around now!

Add a little extra convenience to your morning commute with the Crime Stopper RS-1304DP remote keyless entry/engine starter. Also ideal for cold evenings, the device lets you warm up your car's engine from a distance while you relax in your living room or pay the restaurant tab. Once you arrive at the car, the engine and heater will be nice and warm, so you don't have to shiver uncontrollably for the first five minutes of the drive. Users have several different startup choices: they can start the car with the push of a button, they can program the car to start once the doors unlock, or they can program the starter to engage at a specific time. The car will then run unattended until the user shows up. And should you get waylaid by a friend or a phone call, the starter is programmed to shut off within a window of 12 to 48 minutes.
The RS-1304DP conveniently plugs into to your car's data-linking starter module via its data port, which requires no hardwiring or other cumbersome connections. And thanks to the many programmable modes, the RS-1304DP responds to a variety of remote requests. Among the programmable engine sensing modes are ultra-smart tachless, tach reference, and preset starter cranking. The unit also lets you pop the trunk or turn on the dome light from a distance. And to ensure added safety, the engine can be programmed not to start if the front hood is open. Other convenience features include a horn chirp confirmation each time you lock or unlock the doors, an idle down and infinity mode, and a valet mode that bypasses the starter function when others are parking the car.
The RS-1304DP works with both gas and diesel engines and its pair of four-button transmitters be synched to both family cars for maximum convenience. It also employs an on-glass antenna to ensure the longest possible range.

Audiovox APS997 Remote Security System with 4-Mode Shock Sensor and Extended Range Remote Start (Prestige) Review

Audiovox APS997 Remote Security System with 4-Mode Shock Sensor and Extended Range Remote Start (Prestige)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I installed it myself (got the wiring diagrams for my car online), and you do need to be an intermediate level electrician (shade tree mech) or higher to read the diagrams. The keyless door entry was the toughest part to install, which for the novice installer may need help from the professionals and need more parts ($12 door relay not included). It took me two weekends to get the wiring right (remote start one day, door works properly in two days). Once working, it really "WOW!" me. Siren wakes the living dead. Shock sensor has great sensitivity (it can sense impact from a soft football to car). Temperature reader is built into module, and you can push a button on the remote that has LCD to view precise temp (F or C) in car. Can be programmed to remote start if temp drops below certain temps (to keep engine from freezing). 2nd remote has 5 buttons, 5th button is for a built in LED flashlight (almost blinding for a little thing). Nicely made tough, carbon fiber remotes. I've had a small problem with the remote start not working after 5 months, but Audiovox gladly replaced the module for me when I called and sent the module back. Hope the new module will last longer, and not a quality problem.

Avital 823001/2300 2300 Security System Review

Avital 823001/2300 2300 Security System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this unit and had it professionally installed in March 2002. It's been nothing but trouble since then. Began having false alarms after only 3 months. There's no rhyme or reason to the false alarms; they just occur randomly. Went back to the dealer and, after considerable arguing, they replaced the control module, at my insistence. At the time it was still under the one-year full manufacturer's warranty. In May 2005, it began doing the same thing all over again! This unit cost me $308.20 including installation. I did considerable research before I bought it and thought it was a quality product, as it's advertised as "top of the line." (What a joke!) Called a local dealer after the second round of problems began in May 2005 and they said the limited warranty repair charge would be $45 plus about $55 labor. (Around $100 total.) As of April 2008, it's still giving me problems and appears to be getting worse. As a result, I have to park the car in my garage most of the time to keep the false alarms from disturbing the neighborhood. Needless to say, I won't be buying another DEI Avital. Spend your money on something other than this poor quality unit!

Galaxy G20 Keyless Entry Car Alarm with 4 Buttons Review

Galaxy G20 Keyless Entry Car Alarm with 4 Buttons
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, not that I have a wealth of knowledge on car alarms, but I recently had my car broken into for the last time. In my apartment complex I had my car picked clean including spare change and gum about six times. At first I thought it was me. Perhaps I forgot to lock it. But the sixth time, I knew I locked it. Somehow they still got in. And that was it. I wanted to get an alarm and leave my door unlocked and let the little snots get surprised. I went to craigslist of all places and a dealer was advertising this unit for 110 dollars fully installed. Considering that was the best price I saw anywhere of the big box retailers, I was skeptical. So I enquired. This particular installer used to be a "Head installer" for best buy and he stumbled opon this one a few months ago. He too was skeptical, but it had a limited lifetime warranty while most of the alarms in that price range only had one year. So he tried it out. Immediately he began getting good feedback on it from his customers.
So i went with it. He set it up so that the door would automatically lock once the door was closed and the key was out of the ignition. And he hid the flashing blue light under some black electrical tape and said "if they get in, this puppy will go off." He charged 110. 40 for the unit, and 70 for install, plus tax. I went to a friends house and asked for his empty xbox cardbord packaging and packed it up nicely and left it on the back seat. Then I went into my apartment, hoping for a little noise and action. I dressed in running shorts (am in hawaii) and left my shoes on, ate very light and purposefully sat in a chair close to the door, leaving the door and screen open, not latched for easy egress.
So, fast forward 2 hours and watching the news, getting ready to grab a book. I am sitting and low and behold my horn and siren go off. I Exit my apartment just quick enough to catch a glimpse of the culprits hoofin it down the street. I left the siren running, slim jim in the passsenger front door still flapping, door ajar and called the cops by cell while running after them.
saw them go into an apartment, waited for the cops, and kids were arrested. That complex had sixteen police reports in the last year for car breakins and they got fingerprints to compare to, these kids are screwed im thinking . I just finished giving my statement to the police and wanted to put this review up.
The only bad thing about it is I think the siren is a bit soft. I would liked it to be a bit louder, but it was loud enough to draw attention at 11pm at my complex.

Also I do believe the alarm remotes could have been faster reacting. I used to push my factory remote button quickly and it would lock my door. This unit, you have to hold the button down a "tad" longer to get the chirp. That might be why the previous poster was having issues. I would have to say it takes double the amount of time to press the button. If factory remotes were a 1/4 second solid push to lock the door, this took 1/2 second. really not much, but noticeable. Other than that, solid unit so far and the price is right (esp if you can install it yourself). Also I am able to chirp it from at least 25 yards away. I play golf and I am pretty good at pacing off steps and guessing distance. I haven't tested it farther as of yet.
Also dont let the photo fool you. The remotes are smaller than the factory GM remotes and are nice. I would suggest (based on the manual specs) buying spare batteries and keeping them handy as it says it only has a "6 month" life based on average usage. My factory remote from 2004 is still working on original batteries so not sure what that means.

Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System, Off-White Review

Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System, Off-White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this because we basically wanted something for our French door. My husband is very careful about making sure all the doors are dead-bolted at night, but the French doors seem awful easy to kick in if you really wanted to. Additionally, we have a couple teenagers, and we sleep on a different floor than they do. We don't want anyone sneaking out at night. ;) So, we purchased this system to cover a couple windows and the French door, and to allow us to sleep a little easier. I usually have no problem with anything technical - in fact, I love pushing buttons! But for some reason I was very nervous about setting this up. It sat in the box for almost two weeks before I decided to tackle it. But once I did, it was easy. I set it up, hooked up the phone dialer (which my husband thinks is amazing, by the way.) I liked the key fob best. You can enable or disable the alarm from it, and it contains a panic button. And this thing is LOUD! We are very happy with our choice. We may add a water alarm to the system as well. Great system!

Featuring rolling-code technology, the Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System provides maximum security and reduces the likelihood of false alarms. Suitable for homes, offices, 24-hour stores, businesses, or wherever security is a concern, this all-in-one system offers a 100-foot operating range, installs in minutes, and requires no monitoring services or fees.
Reliable, Cutting-Edge System Uses Trouble-Free Wireless ConnectionsKeep your home or business safe and secure with this reliable, cutting-edge wireless security system. The SC-1000 utilizes innovative technology with trouble-free wireless connections to provide security, making it a great choice for protecting against intruders and safeguarding in case of an accident, fire, flood, or other emergency.
Do-it-Yourself Security Eliminates the Need for Monitoring FeesThe SC-1000 is a do-it-yourself system, which means you can easily install it yourself and then use it without paying monitoring fees or registering with an alarm company. To arm or disarm, you simply enter your personal code or use the keychain transmitter.
Rolling-Code Technology for Maximum Security and Fewer False AlarmsSkylink is the first company to incorporate rolling-code technology into a home/business security system, which means that the SC-1000 provides maximum security while virtually eliminating the number of false alarms. A rolling code (or hopping code) is often used in entry systems that don't require a key, because it prevents an eavesdropper from capturing and using your personal security code. Thanks to rolling-code technology, the SC-1000's control panel will recognize radio waves only from its remote sensors (door/window sensor, motion sensor, and keychain transmitter), thereby preventing high-tech thieves from duplicating signals and tampering with your system.
Motion, Door, and Window Sensors for Reliable Emergency ProtectionThe SC-1000 comes complete with a motion sensor and two door/window sensors--enough coverage for small- to medium-sized homes. Because it works in conjunction with up to 30 Skylink security accessories, including Dial Alert, Alarm Detector Sensor, and Flood Sensor, this system can be customized to suit your needs and can be expanded to accommodate larger spaces or businesses that require a higher level of protection. If any sensors are triggered when the system is armed, the included 110dB siren will make a piercing sound, and the sensor will immediately send a wireless signal to the system's dialer.
Automatically Calls for Help in an EmergencyIn case of an emergency, the SC-1000 follows a straightforward process to make sure you get the help you need. When you receive the system, you can program the emergency dialer to call up to nine different phone numbers, including your cellular phone, a pager, your doctor, relatives, friends, neighbors, etc., should something trigger one of the sensors. You'll also record a personal 40-second emergency message. In case of emergency, the system's dialer will automatically dial the number or numbers you have entered. Once the recipient picks up the phone, the emergency dialer will play your prerecorded message and inform the recipient that you are in an emergency situation and that help should be sent right away.
Lighted Keypad and Low-Battery Indicator for Easy OperationOffering simple and straightforward operation, the SC-1000 features a lighted keypad that is easy to read in dark conditions and offers Chime, Instant, and Delay modes. It runs on AC power with nine-volt alkaline battery backup (battery included), and provides a helpful low-battery indicator to prevent a loss of power.
What's in the BoxAlarm with control panel (SC-001); one motion sensor (PS-434A); two door/window sensors (WT-433); one keychain transmitter (4B-434); one emergency dialer (AD-433S); two adapters; three nine-volt alkaline batteries; three 12-volt alkaline batteries; phone line; instruction manual; and warranty card.

GE 45131 Choice-Alert Wireless Door/Window Sensor Review

GE 45131 Choice-Alert Wireless Door/Window Sensor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As with the motion sensors for this GE product, these do NOT communicate up to 150 feet. Feel lucky if you can get up to 30 feet. And if the temperature dips below 35 degrees, these don't function well. See my review for the Motion Sensor component. These are just not worth it... you get what you pay for and I'm upset that I thought these might work when they're clearly an inferior and barely useful item. I will state that the base unit is cheaply made and does not function as expected or according to the descriptions in its little manual. Quite indicative of cheap junk. Finally, be prepared - the ONLY WAY this unit attaches to the wall is with sticky TAPE. I did not expect that. Just absurd junk!

The weather-resistant GE 45131 Choice Alert Wireless Door/Window Sensor provides a layer of security for any door or window inside or outside your home, including gates, cabinets, refrigerators, sheds, and more. Its two-piece magnetic design is easy to install and requires no wiring. The sensor transmits a wireless alert to the Choice Alert Wireless Control Center whenever a door or window is opened or closed. An added bonus, the sensor is powered by a single lithium battery that provides up to 24 months of protection before it needs to be replaced.
Note: This product must be used with the GE 45129 Wireless Control Center or with the GE 45142 Wireless Control Center Starter Kit (each sold separately). The GE 45131 Window/Door Sensor can work alongside other wireless Choice Alert components as part of a GE Choice Alert Wireless Alarm System.
Part of the GE Choice Alert Wireless Alarm SystemThe GE 45131 Window/Door Sensor is part of the GE Choice Alert Wireless Alarm System line of products. Cost-effective and easy to install, Choice Alert components offer wireless operation, multi-zone coverage, home and away settings, all-weather function, and expandability for complete home protection.
With wireless capabilities, Choice Alert products require no complicated wiring, drilling or expensive installation costs. And because they are designed to be part of a self-contained system, there are no monthly usage charges. System components are simple enough for anyone to use, and can be combined to provide a customized blanket of protection over your entire property.
Wireless Control Center for Sensor MonitoringThe entire Choice Alert Security System is designed around the Wireless Control Center, the system's hub. The Control Center monitors each and every sensor that is wirelessly connected to it. As many as four sensors can be programmed in each of four zones, giving you the security of up to 16 sensors to guard your entire home, including sensors for doors, windows, gates, water leaks, and motion detection.
The Wireless Control Center allows you to secure your system with a custom four-digit code that can be changed at any time. Plus, the center lets you control many system features. For example, you can select 'Home' mode for an instant alarm and 'Away' mode for a delayed alarm. In addition to the armed alarm system, the Control Center also offers a visible and audible Zone Notification alert system (with a choice of continuous alert or single chime mode) and a dedicated alert zone (Zone 4). The center wirelessly transmits and receives signals up to 150 feet.
Additionally, the Wireless Control Center features a low-battery indicator that will alert you when battery power is low in a specific zone, so you'll know exactly when to replace the batteries in every one of your components.
Combine Components for Total Home CoverageTo complement the Window/Door Sensor, there are several components available for use with the Wireless Control Center, including a water leak sensor, a motion detector, a secondary audio alarm siren, a signal repeater (for enhanced wireless range), a garage door sensor, and a Silent Alert LED indicator. Add up to 16 sensors and give yourself the peace of mind that only complete home protection can provide.
All-Weather Security that Installs Within MinutesInstalling the GE 45131 Window/Door Sensor couldn't be any easier. The Choice Alert Window/Door Sensor can be paired with any of the Wireless Control Center's four zones in just a matter of seconds. Zones One through Three provide alarm protection, while Zone Four is a dedicated alert zone that generates a visual alert along with a continuous beeping alert to discreetly warn you that the zone has been compromised.

Clarity 01880 AlertMaster Audio Alarm Review

Clarity 01880 AlertMaster Audio Alarm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great product for peace of mind and safety for anyone who is hearing impaired or deaf. The most important thing is that, with this product, one does not need to modify or replace any existing smoke alarms, security alarms, etc. The entire system is portable, so you can take it with you if you move, or even take it with you when you travel.
It consists of a base unit that is like a souped up alarm clock. It works by receiving alerts, either from a built in microphone, or from optional remote sensors, when a prolonged sound occurs (like with an alarm going off). This unit comes with a bed shaker attachment that will vibrate under your pillow while also flashing any lamp you have plugged into the unit.I also purchased remote sensors, so that if an alarm went off downstairs, the unit would receive notice of it. I also purchased a door monitor that goes with it - when the doorbell is pushed, the unit will recognize it specifically and the lamp will flash (and indicate on the panel that it was the door).
For anyone who is deaf, or who cannot easily hear the sound of an alarm, this product is a must-have.
